The Grace Robotics Team bagged 5 trophies at the recently concluded National Robotics Competition 2011 held at Trinoma Mall last January 22.
The competition was hosted by Genetics Computer in cooperation with Pinoy Robot Games Foundation.

Competitions were held in three categories: Sumobot Open and Junior, Agribot and Robotech Challenge. Over 30 schools and 123 teams saw action at the Activity Center in Trinoma. Grace Christian College sent eight teams for the sumobot Open, two teams for the Agribot and one team for the Robotech Challenge.

The Sumobot Open was dominated by GCC which bagged all the awards from 1st to 3rd place. The 3rd placers consisted of Brandon Gococo (EH 1-6), Kennard Hao (EH 1-6), and Doreen Pua (EE 5-6). The 2nd placers consisted of Jim Harvey Yu (EH 3-5), Jose Luis Altoveros (EH 3-6), and Cherub Dim (EH 1-5). Topping the category was the team composed of Raymond Rebong (EH 2-6), Sabrina Santiago (EH 1-5), and Aivan Jarell Chua (EE 5-6).
In the Agribot competition, the team composed of Jordan Aaron Chua (EH 3-6), Carlson Cheng (EH 3-6), and Joseph Chua (EH 2-5) bagged second runner-up.
For the Robotech Challenge, competitiors were given the task of proposing a robotic system for cleaning the North Pacific Gyre. The GCC team comprised of Janelle Gococo (EH 3-6), Edrich Hans Chua (EH 1-6), and Shaina Santiago (EE 6-3) beat the beat out college teams and tapped the category winning First place.
Coaching the powerhouse teams were Mr. Warren OngPe, Ms. Melanie Tizon, and Mrs. Marlita Vitto. Given only limited days before the competition, the coaches inspired the team to practice hard, have faith and give their best for God’s glory.
