Aim For The Gold

"Aim for the Gold"- coach Catalino "Boy" Concepcion quotes whenever the team would be competing with other schools. “I always tell them to strive for excellence," Coach Boy said with a proud smile. The GCHS swimming team is composed of 25 members- three girls and twenty-two boys. They train three times a week: on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

According to Coach Boy, the team needs more time to train for the upcoming competitions but he’s confident that the team has a

potential to win in those competitions.

On September 8, 2007, 14 swimmers of the GCHS swimming team competed for the Filipino-Chinese Amateur Athletic Federation or (FCAAF). This competition is open for Chinese schools in the whole National Capital Region / NCR. The competition was held at the Quezon City Sports Club. A week after the FCAAF competition, on September 22, 2007, the 14 swimmers of the GCHS swimming team again competed for the first Quezon City Interschool Age Group Competition- this competition is open for private and public schools within Quezon City. It was held at the Amoranto Sports Complex.

With the help of Coach Boy and Assistant Coach Ms. Kristine Joie Valencia, on September 22, 2007, the GCHS swimming team stood out among all of the other teams that competed. The GCHS Swimming Team won as the “1st Runner-Up Overall Champion.”  They did not only stand out as a team but they also did stand out for themselves by winning in the Individual Events. The swimmers did their best and aimed for the gold in the two competitions.
